Volunteer Roles
Find Your Place
Not everyone serves in the same way, and that’s okay.
At PvilleYI, volunteers use different gifts, experiences, and abilities to help create an environment where young people feel safe, valued, connected, and not alone.
We see these roles reflected in Romans 12, where followers of Christ are called to practice hospitality, honor one another, and be devoted to one another in love.
At PvilleYI, this looks like welcoming young people well, honoring their God-given worth, and offering consistent, healthy support alongside their families and community.
Volunteer Roles
-
Practice Hospitality
“Practice hospitality.” — Romans 12:13
Youth Supporters help create the spaces and experiences that make PvilleYI possible.
Whether preparing food, welcoming guests, helping with events, supporting programs, or serving behind the scenes, Youth Supporters create environments where young people feel welcomed, comfortable, and cared for.
Hospitality is often the first step toward belonging. Before relationships can deepen, young people need spaces where they feel safe and wanted.
Youth Supporters play a vital role in creating those spaces.
-
Honor One Another
“Honor one another above yourselves.” — Romans 12:10
Youth Advocates are trained adults who are intentionally available to young people as caring listeners and supportive adults.
Through conversation, encouragement, and consistent presence, Youth Advocates help teens feel seen, valued, and respected. They model what it looks like to honor the dignity, worth, and story of each young person.
Youth Advocates are not counselors or therapists. Their role is to listen, care, encourage, and connect young people with staff or additional support when needed.
Many young people benefit from caring adults who consistently encourage, listen, and support them alongside their families and other important relationships.

Youth Mentor–Coach
Be Devoted to One Another
“Be devoted to one another in love.” — Romans 12:10
Youth Mentor–Coaches are Youth Advocates who receive additional training and commit to structured, supervised mentoring or coaching relationships with young people.
At PvilleYI, devotion looks like consistency, encouragement, healthy boundaries, and showing up over time.
Mentor–Coaches provide encouragement, accountability, guidance, and support over a defined period of time. They help young people navigate challenges, celebrate growth, and pursue healthy goals and next steps.
Mentoring relationships are supervised by PvilleYI staff and are designed to support, not replace, a young person’s family, church, school, or other important relationships.
Young people are often shaped by caring adults who consistently show up, listen well, and encourage them over time.
All Volunteers
Every PvilleYI volunteer:
completes training appropriate to their role,
passes a background check,
follows volunteer policies and expectations,
serves alongside staff and other volunteers,
helps create a safe and welcoming environment.
You do not need previous experience to volunteer.
You simply need a willingness to serve, learn, and care.
Not Sure Where You Fit?
That’s okay.
Many volunteers begin by exploring opportunities and having a conversation with our team. We’ll help you find a role that matches your gifts, interests, and current season of life.
