Volunteer Overview

Help Create a Place Where Young People Know They Matter

At PvilleYI, we believe every young person is a GEM—unique, beautiful, and full of purpose.

Our mission is to help middle school and high school students recognize their God-given worth, build healthy relationships, and discover opportunities to grow. We believe young people flourish when they are surrounded by caring adults, supportive peers, and a community that reminds them they matter.

That's where volunteers come in.

Not everyone serves in the same way, but everyone has something meaningful to offer. Whether welcoming students, serving a meal, helping behind the scenes, listening well, or mentoring over time, volunteers help create the kind of environment where young people can thrive.

Every role matters.

What We Believe About Serving

Romans 12 calls us to practice hospitality, honor one another, and be devoted to one another in love. That is the PvilleYI culture.

At PvilleYI, we seek to live out those values by creating spaces where young people feel welcomed, valued, and supported.

Some volunteers practice hospitality by creating warm, welcoming environments.

Some honor young people through encouragement, listening, and relational presence.

Some commit to walking alongside a young person through a structured mentoring relationship.

Together, these roles help create a community where no young person feels alone.

A Guiding Principle:

Safety Precedes Formation

Before mentoring, coaching, teaching, or spiritual growth can happen, young people need to experience safety, trust, and belonging.

That is why every volunteer receives training, support, and clear expectations before serving.

We are committed to creating environments where young people, volunteers, and families can flourish together.

Volunteer Opportunities

Youth Supporters

Practice hospitality by helping create welcoming, organized, and well-functioning spaces through hospitality, food service, operations, event support, teaching, and other practical forms of service.

You might find these volunteers helping prepare a meal, helping with an event sign-in, set up, or tear down. You might find them teaching a class on life-skills or art, with a youth advocate as a helper. So if you’re not great at having patience with middle schoolers, you can still teach them to change a tire! The youth advocate will help keep them in line and help you navigate that space.

Youth Advocates

Honor one another by serving as caring listeners and supportive adults who help young people feel seen, valued, and encouraged.‍ ‍

You might find these volunteers helping with practical tasks, but also sitting at tables with teens, leading a small support group, or even helping translate directions or expectations to teens in a class. These are people who enjoy working with middle school and high school age groups, take time to learn about them, and interact with empathy and care directly.

Youth Mentor–Coaches

Be devoted to one another in love by committing to structured mentoring relationships that provide encouragement, accountability, and support over time.

You might find these volunteers helping practically or serving as youth advocates, but these volunteers will be trained to work on an individual level with a specific teen. They may commit to four meetings throughout the year, or once a week for a time, but these volunteers will be trained to specifically mentor or coach a student on goals and life-skill development.
